Sustainable Housing Development, Laurencekirk
for Langstane Housing Association
Development Value £1,200,000
Completed in April 2004, the development consists of of 16 1-bed flats and 8 3-Bed houses in three terraces, positioned around a new ‘village green’.
The dwellings have a compact, open plan layout in terrace form to reduce external exposed surface to a minimum. Passive solar gains are maximised with large areas of glazing to the southerly facing elevations. The external envelope is heavily insulated using recycled paper insulation. As a result of energy efficiency measures, only a minimal heating input is required in the form of a single electric storage panel heater located in the living space.
Phase 02 of the development consisting of 9 houses was completed May 2009.
