Super-E Housing, Abereden City
for Tenants First housing Co-Operative
and Aberdeen City Council
Development Value: £500,000
Meeting Super-E standard, 4 units have been constructed to 2 separate sites in Abereden City as redevelopment of former lodge houses to primary Schools.
Super-E is a whole house construction system in which the houses are highly insualted and air tight to minimise passive heat loss through the fabric of the building. Heating and ventialtion systems are combined to reclaim heat from exhaust air and pre-heat fresh inlet air. The whole house system reduces carbon footprint and running energy costs for the tenant.
Each house is designed to maximise passive solar heat gains, open plan to distribute the heat through the house. Layout of the houses allows future flexibility for disabled tenant including ground floor accessible bedroom, adjacent sanitary facilities and barrier free circulation.
