Public Consultation
The ‘Engaging the Public’ process brings together key stakeholders at open workshops to discuss, develop and draw possible urban design and planning solutions to specific, place-based problems. The process is non-binding but with all stakeholders engaging in the process, more understanding of individual views and aims is demonstrated and united solutions can be achieved, to the benefit of all participants.
New planning legislation to be introduced on the 3rd August 2009 will ensure that all developments covering 2 hectares or more, or comprising 50 housing units or more must be the subject of a pre-application public consultation. A pre-application notice outlining the agreed method of consulting the local community must be submitted three months prior to the planning application being submitted.
We have acquired considerable experience in both public consultation techniques and the preparation of design briefs. This expertise has proven to be very successful in obtaining planning permissions in contentious situations.
